2004 was the second year for the GNEO OB Special. Any GNEO banded bird is eligible to fly this race. Twenty-six lofts entered 151 birds this year. The birds were released at 7 a.m. from Freedom, IN. by race secretary Dave Sturm. Weather at the release point was partly cloudy with winds from the East at 3 to 4 mph and 53 degrees. Weather was sunny, with East / Northeast winds 3 to 8 mph and 68 degrees when birds arrived. Tony Conti clocked the first bird at 15:29:11. AU-02-GNEO-887 BBH flew 338.240 miles to win by 4 minutes and 11 seconds. Congratulations Tony! Second Place was won by Horst Uebel with AU-03-GNEO-501 BBC flying 312.912 miles and arriving at 14:55:15. Third Place went to Agee Family Loft, AU-03-GNEO-1558 BCC flew 324.462 miles arriving at 15:15:39.
