--This is the fourth year for the GNEO OB Special. Any GNEO banded bird is eligible to fly this race.
Thirty lofts entered 172 birds this year. The birds were released at 6:15 a.m. from Freedom, IN. by race secretary Mike Koenig.
Weather at the release point was clear with a lite SE wind and 63 degrees. Weather was sunny and HOT, HOT, HOT with a Lite SSW wind and 88 degrees when birds arrived.
Tony Conti clocked the first bird at 14:06:24. AU-05-GNEO-1875 BBH flew 338.240 miles to win by 24 minutes and 2 seconds. Tony had a great day clocking 8 of 13 birds.
Almost half the lofts did not report and 10 lofts only clocked one bird. Tony also won the 2004 GNEO O/B Special. Congratulations Tony! Second Place was won by Ralph Withrow
with AU-04-ARPU-12756 BBC flying 318.559 miles and arriving at 14:03:01. Ralph
won the south section. First in the central section was Cigar II. Pat Quilter clocked AU-05-GNEO-865 BBC at 14:18:54 for a speed of 1122.323 YPM flying 308.575 miles.
